the amount of posts from tumblr staff members scolding users for not wanting to give them money is truly incredible. every single complaint about the website is met with “well maybe if you gave us enough money 💅” truly undefeatable business strategy. when i got banned from mass reporting and their email support blocked me an actual post i saw from a real staff member on here in response was that we “aren’t giving them enough money” to afford moderation that isn’t completely automated. not to mention this kind of shit from official blogs:
it’s truly fucking astonishing. did they think they just got lucky that Yahoo sold tumblr for $1 billion less than they bought it for? do they think if they yell at us enough we’ll feel like we owe something to an unprofitable business model? if you can’t figure something out that is literally not my problem. sorry interest rates aren’t 0% anymore and you can’t run businesses at a complete loss forever now. sell the platform to the next schmuck dumb enough to buy it or shut it down. we will literally just find somewhere else to post.

Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.
